Dr. Rev. Gene Reeves speaks at UC Irvine

The Lotus Sutra lecture by Dr. Gene Reeves, Hear from the Author, was held at the University of California at Irvine campus on December 1, 2010.
This lecture was part of the 2010 Lotus Sutra Lecture U.S. Tour planned by Rissho Kosei-kai International of North America (RKINA) for the purpose of sharing the Lotus Sutra messages with people in the United States.
The lecture at UC Irvine was co-sponsored by RKINA, Buddhist Association at UCI, and the UCI Program in Religious Studies.
Dr. Reeves explained the parables and stories in the Lotus Sutra by referring to his latest book, The Stories of the Lotus Sutra. He emphasized the importance of engaging ourselves in helping people and creating peace by exercising creativity and imagination as a bodhisattva. The lecture was attended by 130 people, including UCI students. After Dr. Reeves’ lecture, an energetci Question & Answer session was held with the attendees.
The 2010 Lotus Sutra Lecture U.S. Tour started with Dr. Reeves' lecture at Rissho Kosei-kai of LA on November 28, followed by his lectures in Irvine, and then continued to Tampa Bay, San Antonio, Oklahoma, and closed his tour in New York on December 15th.
