This year’s speaker is Dr. Dominick Scarangello. He will talk on “The Ten Suchnesses: Theory and Practice.”
According to the Lotus Sutra, the ten suchnesses are the ultimate reality, or true form, of everything that exists. More than just philosophy, the ten suchnesses are an easily understood account of dependent origination and a practical tool for discovering the causes of suffering and opening paths toward liberation from suffering. Join us for a workshop on the ultimate reality of all things.
Dominick Scarangello obtained his PhD from the University of Virginia in 2012. His interests include Lotus Sutra Buddhism in East Asia, Japanese religions, and religion and modernity. Dr. Scarangello has taught at the University of Virginia and was a Postdoctoral Scholar in Japanese Buddhism at the University of California, Berkeley (2013-2014). Presently, he is the International Advisor to Rissho Kosei-kai, coordinator of the International Lotus Sutra Seminar, and works with the International Buddhist Congregation, a Rissho Kosei-kai group for international residents of Japan.
